<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a construction method of enlarging a space under the girder of a river bridge can minimize the effect of construction on traffic by reducing a construction period, eliminating a need for a site for developing a road, and can reduce an environmental load by using the upper structure of an existing bridge to suppress the occurrence of noise and dust and reduce the generated amount of refuse. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The space under the girder of the existing river bridge is enlarged by a step of installing a strut at a proper position under the bridge girder 10, a step of installed a hydraulic jack 110 between a bent 90 and the bridge girder 10, a step of raising the bridge girder 10 by driving the hydraulic jack 110, a step of receiving the raised bridge girder 10 by a steel saddle 100 and removing an existing bearing 130, and a step of constructing a new skeleton and a new bearing 140 at a position matching the position of the raised bridge girder 10 above the existing bridge pier 40.
