<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self-supporting band-pass filter that is made high in frequency to transmit far-infrared light and intermediate-infrared light, and has high transmissivity and excellent filter characteristics. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The self-supporting band-pass filter has a mesh-shaped filter metal plate 1 having a plurality of circular holes 2 bored in a two-dimensional array at constant intervals, and is formed into a microstructure which transmits far-infrared light and intermediate-infrared light although it was difficult before to transmit them by letting the thickness t (μm) satisfy t≥λ0 for the center wavelength λ0 (μm) of the transmitted light to have a high frequency and is also increased in transmissivity to have excellent filter characteristics.
