<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the accuracy and speed of translation by a phrase translation device. <P>SOLUTION: The phrase translation device 40 includes a dictionary-based translation part 44 using a dictionary-based translation method, an example complete-matching translation part 46 using an example complete-matching translation method, a word-aligned example-based translation part 50 using a word-aligned example-based translation method, an example-set-based translation part 52, an example-based translation part 54 using an example-based translation method, and a rule-based translation part 56 using a rule-based translation method, and is configured to feed an input phrase into the sequential translation parts stepwise. The example-set-based translation part 52 selects a plurality of example-translation sets containing the input phrase from an example-translation dictionary 66, extracts sets of common parts of two of the plurality of example-translation sets, calculates degrees of support of the plurality of extracted sets of common parts for the input phrase, and outputs the translation phrase of a set of common parts selected according to the degree of support as a translation in a second language. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
