PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article allowing a wearer to visually recognize a changed pattern especially when the diaper is changed. SOLUTION: A waist elastic body 3 is attached in the extended state to a back waist area 6 of the diaper 1, and a plurality of slits 16 extending in the vertical direction Y and penetrating in the thickness direction are formed in the waist elastic body 3. When the diaper 1 is worn, the waist elastic body 3 is extended, and open holes 27 are formed by the slits 16. A bar and a stem of a note superposed on each slit 16 are drawn in a first pattern display part 23 located in the peripheral edge of the slit 16. When the slits 16 are expanded to be the open holes 27, the open holes 27 are recognized as heads of notes and the notes are formed. A second pattern display part 24 in which a picture of a character playing a musical instrument is drawn is formed from the first pattern display part 23 toward a crotch area 7, so that the wearer may imagine that the notes appearing in the first pattern display part 23 come out of the musical instrument played by the character.
