PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for transferring a gene into a plant pigment genome, and to provide a transformed plant body with the objective gene transferred into a pigment genome by the above method. SOLUTION: A green callus is induced from a rice seed transferred with a gene so as to express transcriptional factor OsGLK1 gene functioning to induce differentiation into chloroplast. Subsequently, a foreign gene is transferred into a plant cell by particle gun method to effect gene transfer into the pigment genome. Next, a callus having the foreign gene is selected and redifferentiated to obtain a transformed plant body where the foreign gene is transferred into the chloroplast genome. That is, by using, in advance, a tissue where the gene of a transcriptional factor inducing the differentiation to chloroplast is overexpressed, in a plant material subject to chloroplast transformation, the tissue where the chloroplast is differentiated and presents green color can be transferred with a gene, succeeding improving gene transfer efficiency.
