<p>An authentication method using subcutaneous blood flow measurement is characterized in that a spread laser beam is shined onto the ventral surface of a finger, light reflected from the blood vessel layer under the skin is focused on an image sensor as a laser speckle by means of an optical system, a value indicating the rate of variation with time of the intensity of light received by each pixel of the laser speckle is calculated, the values are used as a two-dimensional map to obtain a map showing the blood flow of the ventral surface of the finger, and the blood flow map is compared/collated with pre-registered personal data. A region apart from the region onto which the laser beam is shined is used as an observation region of the image sensor, and the laser speckle is formed on the image sensor. An authentication device used for the authentication method is also disclosed. An improved technique relating to a method and device for authentication using, e.g., a finger print pattern on the basis of the laser speckle on the ventral surface of the finger and used for accurately extracting, e.g., the finger print pattern is provided.</p> |
