<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change data indicating an instructed operation according to the change of an instruction accepting means when the instruction accepting means which accepts an instruction to a self-apparatus or an external apparatus is changed. <P>SOLUTION: In an image forming apparatus, operation explanation data indicating an operation necessary for executing certain processing and result explanation data indicating an event which occurs as the result of operation are stored in association with each other, and when user uses a help function, those data are outputted. Also, the image forming apparatus judges whether or not the display configurations of a touch panel have been changed (step Sa3), and when judging that the display formats of the touch panel have been changed, extracts an instruction acceptance picture whose display formats have been changed (step Sa4), and updates operation explanation data indicating an operation corresponding to the instructed acceptance picture and result explanation data associated with the operation explanation data (steps Sa6, Sa7).
