<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for preventing a urethane-made belt from receiving scratches when brought into contact with a metal without blending anything special in a urethane resin. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The urethane-made belt to be used in contact with the metal is cleaned by using a detergent obtained by dissolving a metal inactivating agent and/or an antioxidant in a solvent. The cleaning is carried out before the factory shipment of the urethane-made belt and/or at the maintenance time thereof. The urethane-made belt does not contain the metal inactivating agent and/or the antioxidant as compounding agents of the urethane resin.
