<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a small footprint bookbinding apparatus which conducts the bookbinding process by gluing. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The bookbinding apparatus 10 has sheets of paper loaded on its first paper feeding tray 30A. The gluing transfer mechanism 48 lowers the gluing unit 50 and presses the adhesive-applied surface of the glue sheet 54 onto the top surface of the uppermost sheet of paper so that the uppermost sheet of paper can be adhered onto the glue sheet. Then the gluing transfer mechanism 48 raises the gluing unit 50 so that the uppermost sheet of paper and the downward sheets of paper loaded thereunder can be separated from each other. The electronic control part discharges the uppermost sheet of paper by activating the glue sheet feeding motor and feeding the glue sheet 54 with the uppermost sheet of paper adhered thereon. The peeling mechanism 80 peels the paper adhered on the glue sheet 54 and the sheet off each other and transfers the glue onto the paper.
