PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an autofocus adjustment device and an imaging apparatus which can be prevent erroneous focusing even if a distance measurement view field is located at an end of a photographing view field when performing AF by a contrast system in a camera the focal distance of which is relatively long. SOLUTION: The autofocus adjustment device or the imaging apparatus is provided with a system controller 123. The system controller is configured so that a correlation value calculating means calculates the value of a correlation between a video in a focus detection area when a focus lens 102 is located in a lens position which is separated by a predetermined distance toward the proximity side from the lens position determined when a focus evaluation value has a peak value and a video in a focus detection area when the focus lens 102 is located in a lens position which is separated by a predetermined distance toward the infinity side from the lens position determined when the focus evaluation value has the peak value. When the value of the correlation calculated by the correlation value calculating means is equal to or greater than a predetermined value, it is determined that the lens position corresponding to the peak value is a lens position obtained when the lens is focused.
