<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner having a refrigerant heater loaded thereon for improving heating capacity and comfort in the indoor environment during defrosting operation by using the refrigerant heater as a heat source and improving cooling capacity during cooling operation. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This air conditioner 100 includes: a main refrigerant circuit sequentially connecting by refrigerant pipes a compressor 1, a four-way valve 2, an outdoor heat exchanger 7, a heat source side throttle device 6, a high pressure side pipe 5a of a supercooling heat exchanger 5, a user side throttle device 4, and an indoor heat exchanger 3; and a bypass refrigerant circuit branched from between the supercooling heat exchanger 5 and the user side throttle device 4 and connected to the suction side of the compressor 1 via a bypassing throttle device 8, a low pressure side pipe 5b of the supercooling heat exchanger 5, and a refrigerant heater 9.
