PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for stably casting a highly clean slab reduced in oxide nonmetallic inclusions on its surface layer part and also its inside by controlling the fluidization of a molten steel in a mold utilizing electromagnetic force. SOLUTION: When a molten steel in a tundish 1 is poured into a mold 2, so as to continuously cast a slab 22 using immersion nozzles 9 having two discharge holes 10 facing to the short side directions of the mold, respectively, the flow rate of an inert gas blown into the molten steel poured via the immersion nozzles is controlled to≤5L/min, also, a static magnetic field 24 over the whole range of the slab is applied to the position lower than the discharge holes of the immersion nozzles, further, an A.C. moving magnetic field 25 for revolving the molten steel to the horizontal direction is applied to the position lower than the application position of the static magnetic field and also far from the molten steel surface in the mold by≥1 m.
