<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that, in an alternate recording to assign an area in a user data area as the alternating end, such as a pseudo overwrite in a write-once type optical disk, when the assigned alternating end is defective, the area in a spare area is further assigned, but the alternating end of the area in the initially assigned user data area is not assigned, thereby the defective area is left alone in the user data area. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An area 2 is assigned for alternation with an area 1.
