The invention relates to a fuel cell system comprising at least one fuel cell (2) which has an anode region (4) and a cathode region (3) and is arranged in a housing (6), wherein a rinsing medium for rinsing the housing (6) can be introduced into the housing (6), in a region (7) outside the fuel cell (2). According to the invention, a device (16, 17, 18, 19) is provided for drawing off the medium mixture comprising the rinsing medium and contained in the region (7) outside the fuel cell, said device being connected to said region (7) and to an exhaust pipe (15, 15a) leading away from the cathode region (3). The device is designed such that the drawing off of the medium mixture is fluidically coupled to the exhaust flow flowing in the exhaust pipe (15, 15a). The invention also relates to a method for operating such a fuel cell system. |
