Disclosed is a copper salt composition which enables formation of an optical material that has excellent heat resistance, while being suppressed in lowering of transparency or discoloration even at high temperatures. The copper salt composition contains particles having an average particle diameter of 0.005-0.3 µm and composed of a copper phosphonate which is formed from a phosphonic acid compound represented by general formula (1) and copper ions, a polysiloxane component composed of a hydrolysis product and/or condensation product of an alkoxysilane, a plasticizer and a dispersing agent.
