<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricant base oil, excellent in low temperature characteristics, and satisfying both of viscosity-temperature characteristics and low temperature viscosity characteristics in high levels, a method for producing the same and also a lubricant composition containing the lubricant base oil. <P>SOLUTION: This lubricant base oil is characterized by having a 4-6 mass% urea adduct value and a≥100 viscosity index. Also, the method for producing the lubricant base oil is provided by performing hydrocracking by using vacuum distillation distillate oil, mild hydrocracking-treated oil of the vacuum distillation distillate, de-asphalted oil, mild hydrocracking-treated oil of the de-asphalted oil or a mixed oil of at least two of them as a raw material in the presence of a hydrocracking catalyst and further, treating the product by combining a de-aromatic treatment and a wintering treatment so that the obtained treated material has the 4-6 mass% range urea adduct value and≥100 viscosity index.
