METHOD FOR REMOVING METHYL IODIDE FROM METHANOL-CONTAINING GAS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently remove a trace amount of methyl iodide contained in an off-gas from an acetic acid-producing process by a methanol carbonylation method in the coexistence of a large amount of methanol vapor.

SOLUTION: A method for removing the methyl iodide from the methanol-containing gas includes passing the off-gas containing the methanol and the methyl iodide discharged from the acetic acid-producing process by the methanol carbonylation method through an active carbon-packed layer at a temperature 60 to 80°C.
