PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the number of optical fibers which can be spliced without changing external size of an optical ferrule.
SOLUTION: In an optical ferrule with optical fibers, as an optical fiber, for example, an optical fiber 7 such that optical fibers (bare fibers 7a) having a clad diameter of 100μm or smaller are coated with a resin coat 7b so as to have an outer diameter of 125μm, is used. The optical fibers 7 are inserted in a finely bundled state into a protection boot 9 which is fitted to the open part 2a for inserting optical fibers of the optical ferrule, and are guided to respective optical fiber holes 3 being bent in the optical ferrule. Since each of the optical fibers 7 has a small diameter, the pitch of the holes for the optical fibers can be made narrow and the number of the optical fibers can be increased. Further, since each of the optical fibers has a small diameter and excellent bending characteristics, the optical fibers can enter the optical fiber holes 3 being bent after coming out of the protection boot 9, thus the number of the optical fibers is increased while keeping the mechanical strength and reliability by being protected by the protection boot 9.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
|
