PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering device for actualizing smooth collapse movement of a tilting bracket to the front side of a vehicle body by suppressing the deformation of a vehicle body mounting bracket during secondary collision. SOLUTION: When force F1 is applied to a steering shaft at the rear end of the vehicle body in an upward tilting direction during secondary collision, bending moment with the fastening position of the vehicle body mounting bracket 24 to the front side of the vehicle body, as a supporting point, is applied to the vehicle body mounting bracket 24. However, to the fastening position of the vehicle body mounting bracket 24 to the rear side of the vehicle body, great rigidity is given by reinforcing plates 51, 51 to suppress the deformation of the vehicle body mounting bracket 24. So, an outer column and a column clamping member are smoothly separated from the vehicle body mounting bracket 24 toward the front side of the vehicle body together with a tilting bracket 23.
