PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heavy load lifting device capable of surely lifting a heavy load stably to any height in a short time and of selecting the lifting height optionally. SOLUTION: The heavy load lifting device comprises a first strut 1 vertically affixed to a base 4, a second strut 2 liftably assembled in the first strut 1, a third strut 3 which is liftably assembled in the second strut 2 and on which a heavy load is placed, a first lifting means 5 for lifting the second strut 2, and a second lifting means 11 for lifting the third strut 3 when the second strut 2 is lifted. The second lifting means 11 comprises first pulleys 12A, 12B attached to the upper inside of the second strut 2, second pulleys 13A, 13B attached to the lower outside of the third strut 3, third pulleys 14A, 14B attached to the upper outside of the third strut 3, and wire ropes 15A, 15B having one end affixed to the base 4 and the other end affixed to the base 4 with the first, second, and third pulleys interposed therebetween.
