PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a noise reduction circuit which suitably reduces noise while eliminating an afterimage regardless movement of afterimage data. SOLUTION: The noise reduction circuit forms a plurality of noise reduction data for video data from a data difference between two pixels deviated by a predetermined amount in a time direction or in a space direction using a correlation, forms a difference cause determination signal which shows whether the difference is caused by the noise, and forms the noise reduction data for a static image from the data difference between the two pixels displaced by a predetermined amount in a time direction or in a space direction. Then, the input image data are determined whether they are a moving picture or static picture. When it is a static picture, the noise reduction data for the static picture are selected to be output. When it is the moving picture, a decision method of the noise reduction data for the moving picture is determined based on the plurality of difference cause determination signals, and noise reduction data to be output is selected or combined among the noise reduction data for moving picture.
