<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cinder dechlorination method which can provide a further improved dechlorination rate in cinder treatment to make cinder effectively utilizable. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A cinder dechlorination method is provided which includes mixing cinder with a metal sulfate under agitation and heating the resultant mixture while raising the temperature of the mixture from 400°C or below to 1,000°C. Desirable embodiments include, for example, one wherein the metal sulfate is any one of iron sulfate, copper sulfate, and zinc sulfate, one wherein the rate temperature raise is 5-50°C/min, and one wherein the addition amount of the metal sulfate is 5-30 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. cinder are desirable.
