<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance safety of communication while maintaining simplicity of radio communication. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A radio communication system includes: a first radio communication device comprising an authentication channel determination unit which determines an authentication channel for authentication with a second radio communication device, a radio communication unit which transmits an authentication signal to the second radio communication device using the authentication channel determined by the authentication channel determination unit, and a transmission power control unit which sets transmission power of the radio communication unit to a second power value smaller than a first power value before the authentication signal is transmitted and sets the transmission power of the radio communication unit to the first power value after the authentication signal is transmitted; and the second radio communication device including an authentication unit which generates an authentication response signal on the basis of the authentication signal transmitted from the first radio communication device.
