PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly precisely detect an object even when a detection target object is projected in various shapes on an image in an object detection method for detecting a specific type of object from an image expressed with two-dimensionally arrayed pixels, for example, the head of a human being or the face of a human being or the like. SOLUTION: This object detection method includes a primary evaluation value calculation step for calculating a plurality of featured values by making a plurality of filters for calculating the featured values of some different from each other of the outline and inside of an object act, and for calculating each primary evaluation value corresponding to each featured value on an object detection target image; a secondary evaluation value calculation step for calculating a secondary evaluation value by integrating a plurality of primary evaluation values calculated in the primary evaluation value calculation step; and a region extraction step for comparing the secondary evaluation value calculated by the secondary evaluation value calculation step with a threshold, and for extracting a region where there is high possibility that a specific type of object may exist beyond the threshold.
