<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display apparatus and image display method displaying a high-quality three-dimensional image free from double image. <P>SOLUTION: The image display apparatus has a plurality of LDs 7R, 7G, 7B for each emitting different color light, liquid crystal light valves 6R, 6G, 6B, and a timing control unit for producing a timing signal indicating each light emitting period of the plurality of LDs. The timing control unit has a pulse light emitting mode of producing a timing signal for making each LD emit light only within a predetermined light emitting period (period between t3 and t2) every half frame period when displaying the three-dimensional image in which an input image signal is alternately switched to a signal for right eye and a signal for left eye every half frame period. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
