PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To modify the properties of slag produced in a refining process or the like so that the slag has properties hardly causing powdering or moisture expansion without forming the slag into a spherical shape like air granulated slag.
SOLUTION: An oxidizing gas is blown toward the slag which is in a red-hot state and is formed into any of a tabular, columnar, strip, and granular shape to oxidize a part of the slag component without air granulating the slag into a spherical shape. By blowing the oxidizing gas toward the slag which is in a red-hot state and is formed into a shape having a large specific surface area, iron and FeO in the slag are oxidized and modified to a ferrite phase, which combines with calcium in the slag to produce calcium ferrite. This suppresses production of a dicalcium silicate phase which causes powdering and also reduces the amount of free CaO through production of a calcium ferrite or the like, to thereby produce a slag hardly causing powdering or moisture expansion.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
