ROLLING MILL AND ROLLING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rolling mill capable of performing the shape control of a metal plate more accurately than heretofore.

SOLUTION: The rolling mill for rolling the metal plate with upper and lower work rolls is provided with: a coolant jetting means which has a plurality of nozzles arranged at a prescribed interval along the direction of the revolving shafts of the work rolls and from the each nozzle of which the coolant is jetted against the work rolls; a roll temperature estimating means for estimating the average temperature of the work rolls; a coolant temperature detecting means for detecting the temperature of the coolant; a shape detecting means for detecting the shape in the width direction of the rolled metal plate; a shape deviation calculating means for calculating the amount of deviation of the shape of the metal plate detected by the shape detecting means from the target shape; and a shape control means for controlling the shape of the metal plate by controlling the jetting quantity of the coolant which is jetted from the coolant jetting means and/or the temperature of the coolant on the basis of the difference between the average temperatures of the work rolls and the coolant and the deviation of the shape of the metal plate from the target shape.
