<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a labeling apparatus capable of accommodating labels having different lengths or widths in labeling operation. <P>SOLUTION: In one mode, a vacuum drum assembly 102 for use with the labeling apparatus includes apertures for supporting labels 104 on an outer surface using vacuum pressure. The vacuum drum assembly 102 may include air distributors for providing the vacuum pressure to the selected apertures to accommodate various lengths or widths of the labels 104.
