PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charging system for an electric vehicle, capable of ensuring a protection operation in charging an on-vehicle storage battery of an electric vehicle and simplifying a system configuration without deteriorating charging efficiency. SOLUTION: A connector 13 connects a charger 17 to the on-vehicle storage battery 14, and the charger 17 converts the power of an AC power supply 15 into DC power in a state where the charger 17 is connected to the on-vehicle storage battery 14 via the connector 13, and charges the on-vehicle storage battery 14 of the electric vehicle 12. A diode 23 is connected between the charger 17 and the connector 13 so as to permit the energization from the charger 17 to the on-vehicle storage battery 14 and interrupt the energization from the on-vehicle storage battery 14 to the charger 17. A contactor 24 connected in parallel to the diode is closed during energization from the charger 17 to the on-vehicle storage battery 14 and is opened during non-energization from the charger 17 to the on-vehicle storage battery 14.
