<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL device that facilitates patterning of an insulating layer and prevents an organic layer such as a light-emitting layer or the like from being adversely affected when forming the insulating layer. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The organic EL element 1 is formed as follows. A positive-electrode substrate 11 is configured such that a positive electrode 3 and an organic layer 13 including a patterned insulating layer formed by transfer and a light-emitting layer 5 are formed while the organic layer 13 is formed on its surface. The positive-electrode substrate and a negative-electrode substrate 12 formed with a negative electrode 7 are prepared. The positive-electrode substrate 11 and the negative-electrode substrate 12 are stuck to each other such that the stuck face of the positive-electrode substrate and the negative-electrode substrate becomes the interface between the organic layer 13 of the positive-electrode substrate 11 and the negative electrode 7.
