<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pressure ring suppressing the surface thickness rise of an abutment joint portion and adapted to an engine of higher performance operating under a high load. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The pressure ring comprises an outer peripheral surface 3 making a generally circular shape and sliding to a cylinder, an inner peripheral surface 4 opposing to a piston, and one abutment joint portion 2 divided in a generally circular shape radial direction. A slit 1a opening to an end surface of the abutment joint portion 2 to make that a start end and extending in a direction intersecting the radial direction is formed. A terminal distance A at a terminal position 1c of the slit 1a is constituted to be 0.40 to 0.70 times of ring thickness a1, and a start end distance X at a start end position of the slit 1a is constituted to be not more than the terminal distance A. In the pressure ring, a circular center angle from the start end position 1b of the slit 1a to a terminal position 1c is formed to be 3° to 20°, and the thickness of the slit 1a is formed to be 0.01 to 0.30 times of the ring thickness a1.
