<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem with reliability wherein a necessary oil level cannot be secured at a compression mechanism part and abnormal wear and seizure of a sliding part occur since excessive oil rises during operation and the oil stays at a compressor upper part in a hermetic compressor storing a motor and the compression mechanism part connected to the motor stored in a hermetic vessel including an oil pocket at a bottom part and delivering gas compressed by the compression mechanism part into the hermetic vessel once to make the inside of the vessel high pressure. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This compressor is invented based on the above circumstances, and is provided with an oil through groove connecting an upper part and a lower part of the inside of the hermetic vessel for efficiently returning oil staying at the upper part of the compressor to the oil pocket at a lower of the compressor.
