<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To assure a contact area between a silicon core rod and a connecting member by simplifying the connection between the silicon core rod and the connecting member, and thereby, improving a contact state upon assembling the silicon core rod and the connecting member, preventing meltdown caused by contact failure upon applying a current to the silicon core rod assembly and preventing interruption during a start work of a silicon precipitation reaction so as to improve productivity of the reaction. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The silicon core rod assembly 1 is to be used for manufacturing polycrystalline silicon by a vapor phase growth method, and the silicon core rod assembly 1 comprises two bars of silicon core rods 2 and a connecting member 3 installed between the silicon core rods 2. The connecting member 3 has an insertion port 4 made of a hole having a bottom and not penetrating the connecting member 3, with the top end face 2a of the silicon core rod 2 butted to the bottom face 4a of the insertion port 4.
