PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing 3-aminopiperidine with high optical purity. SOLUTION: The method for optical resolution of alkylpiperidin-3-yl carbamate comprises bringing an RS mixture of alkylpiperidin-3-yl carbamate of formula (1) (wherein R is a 2-4C alkyl group) into contact with optically active tartaric acid in the presence of a solvent. A diastereomer salt of optically active alkylpiperidin-3-yl carbamate of formula (2) (wherein R is a 2-4C alkyl group; and a carbon atom indicated by * is the optically active center) and optically active tartaric acid is also provided.
