<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a configuration in the vicinity of a developing position so as to form better images in a developer supply device for supplying a developer on an electrostatic latent image carrier by using a free traveling wave electric field and an image forming apparatus provided with it. <P>SOLUTION: The developer supply device (6) is provided so as to store a part for including a semi-cylindrical part (61a) of a developer carrier (61) inside and so as to expose the remaining part outside. The developer supply device (6) includes a sliding member (62a).
