PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer-treated glass filler used for preparing a self-adhesive composite suitable for dental materials. SOLUTION: The filler is based on glass particles, which are characterized by containing a homo- or copolymer of vinyl chloride on the surface; the surfaces of the glass particles are covered at least partially by the homo- or copolymer of vinyl chloride; and this homo- or copolymer of vinyl chloride may have a number-average molecular weight M<SB>n</SB>in the range from 30,000 to 130,000.
