<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique contributing to improvement of durability of a shock absorbing mechanism in an impact tool including the shock absorbing mechanism for idle hammering. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The impact tool includes a tool body 103, a hitting part 143, an intermediate part 145, first receiving parts 155 and 157 coming into contact with the hitting part 143 when the part 143 moves further forward beyond a prespecified striking position, second receiving parts 137 and 165 coming into contact with the intermediate part 145, a first elastic body 153 in contact with the first receiving parts 155 and 157 and elastically deformed by a shock transmitted from the first receiving parts 155 and 157, and a second elastic body 163 in contact respectively with the first receiving parts 155 and 157 and the second receiving parts 137 and 165 and elastically deformed by the shock transmitted from the first receiving parts 155 and 157 and a shock transmitted from the second receiving parts 137 and 165.
