A method of managing demand on a battery (26) of a mobile communications device (10) served by a network which defines a requirement relating to the behaviour of the mobile communications device (10), the method comprising assessing the status of the battery (26) and adjusting the behaviour of the mobile communications device (10) according to the status of the battery (26), such that the behaviour of the mobile communications device (10) departs from the network-defined requirement.
