The device (1) has an attachment mechanism (4) of a flexible web (3) i.e. cover plate, fixed to a fascia (6) of a vehicle and to a zone (Z1) of the flexible web. Attachment elements (5) of the web assemble a zone (Z2) of the web on a steering column (2). The mechanism includes an adaptation unit to adapt the length of the web stretched between the element and a portion of the mechanism so as to exert a stress on the web. The mechanism has a winding mechanism (8) for winding the web, and the fascia has a cover flap (7) for covering the winding mechanism.
