PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drowsiness detector, a driving support apparatus and a drowsiness detecting method which detect opening and closing of the eyes even when the face does not face the front by suppressing a calculation load, and also to provide a drowsiness detector, a driving support apparatus and a drowsiness detecting method which enable to reduce erroneous detection of the positions of the eyebrows. SOLUTION: The drowsiness detector 100 measures eye closing time on the basis of opening and closing of the eyes by detecting opening and closing of the eyes using a face image of a subject photographed by a photographing means 11. The drowsiness detector has a feature point detecting means 22 for detecting the eyebrows, the upper eyelids and the lower eyelids from the face image, an opening degree detecting means 24 for detecting opening degrees of the eyes on the basis of a space ratio A, that is, the ratio of space between the upper and lower eyelids to space between the eyebrows and the lower eyelids, and an opening and closing determining means 25 for determining opening or closing of the eyes on the basis of the opening degrees of the eyes.
