<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve operability in selecting a circuit to be edited, in a control program development support device of a PLC equipped with an on-line edit function. Ž<P>SOLUTION: When it is decided that one or a series of circuits on a ladder diagram showing a control program is to be selected, the selected circuit is determined as circuit to be edited only when the object size of a control program corresponding to the selected circuit does not exceed a prescribed upper limit size necessary for achieving an on-line edit function. Meanwhile, when it is decided that the selected circuit is a circuit element configuring one circuit, a series of circuits including one circuit to which the circuit element belongs, and satisfying the upper limit of the object size of the corresponding control program, are determined as a circuit to be edited on-line.
