MENU SYSTEM FOR INTERACTIVE PROGRAM GUIDE NAVIGATOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an interactive television program guide having an improved logical structure which allows to facilitate the navigation of guiding. SOLUTION: This program guide system has a logically flat navigator menu structure which is constituted of a program guide category and a selectable program guide option. The program guide category corresponds to a quite broad group of program guide features. The selectable program guide option corresponds to a more concrete program guide feature. Each program guide category has a related selectable program guide option. The program guide category can be indicated by a line, crossing a top part of a display screen. The selectable program option can be displayed at the same column as the program guide category to which the selectable guide option is related. An enhanced display area can be disposed on one of the selectable program guide options. The selectable program guide option can be scrolled, using a cursor pair in the perpendicular direction.
