<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monitor for an escalator allowing a monitoring camera to be attached without being influenced by a structure of a ceiling or wall of a building around the escalator. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This monitor is arranged in an escalator arrangement structure with a protection device 9 with a cylindrical body 7a at a front side position preventing a passenger from being caught, which is arranged at a narrow angle section between the moving handrail 2 of the escalator 1 arranged slantingly and the ceiling of the building, or at a narrow angle section between the bottom section 6a of the escalator 1a and the moving handrail 2 adjacent crossingly. It is configured to store the camera 9 for monitoring the passenger of the escalator 1 in the inner side of the cylindrical body 7a of the protection device 7, for instance, inside the cylindrical body 7a, and to have an attachment tool 12 of the camera 9 closing the top opening of the cylindrical body 7a, which is formed in the column shape with the same diameter as that of the cylindrical body 7a.
