<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a content reproducing unit that has a function for notifying that a user does not easily overlook a point, such as a turning point of topics and a bookmark, when controlling special reproduction, such as fast forward/rewind reproduction, and controls the special reproduction of content, and to provide a method of reproducing content. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A content reproduction means 10 reconfigures a content signal for outputting as a reconfiguration content, and outputs time information on content under reproduction to an event signal generation means 12. The event signal generation means 12 compares content time information with event time information, and outputs an event signal when time is immediate. An event notification means 103 notifies the user that the reproduction time of the content is close to event time based on the event signal output from the event signal generation means 12.
