PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve regeneration efficiency by ensuring a supply destination of regenerative electric power when an electric brake is used, controlling an amount of load of an in-vehicle load device, and keeping a trolley voltage at a value appropriate for regenerative operation. SOLUTION: An electric vehicle is equipped with an AC motor 13 driven by an inverter 33, a torque control means 33 for controlling the torque of the AC motor, a load 20 to which the DC-side voltage of the inverter is supplied, and a load amount adjusting means 42 for adjusting a load amount of the load according to the DC-side voltage of the inverter when the electric vehicle is decelerated using the torque control means 33.
