RECEIVING DEVICE AND ITS CONTROLLING METHOD, PROGRAM, AND STORAGE MEDIUM

A receiving device is connected to a transmitting device via a transmission medium, and comprises a buffer, a change-in-accumulated-amount measuring portion, and a frequency deviation calculating portion. The buffer temporarily accumulates audio data of the contents. The change-of-accumulated-amount measuring portion measures a change per unit time in amount of data accumulated in the buffer during reproduction of the audio data. The frequency deviation calculating portion calculates a frequency deviation between the oscillation clock of the receiving device and that of the transmitting device based on the change in accumulated amount measured by the change-of-accumulated-amount measuring portion. A clock changing portion changes the frequency of the clock for reproduction based on the frequency deviation. Due to this structure, high-quality audio reproduction based on the receiving device-side reproduction clock at the fixed oscillation frequency and correct reproduction of audio/video synchronized contents can be realized.
