<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To register preferentially an error-log having high importance. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In a recording device 1 provided with a recording medium 19 and a memory storing position information of a defective sector of the recording medium 19 as a log, an error detecting part 21 detects a defective sector by reading out successively data for each sector of the recording medium 19. When the defective sector is detected by the error detecting part 21, a log generating part 22 generates priority of log register decided conforming to LBA for discriminating the defective sector and a detecting method of the defective sector in the detecting part 19 as the log to be registered. A determining part 23 determines whether a log about a defective sector newly detected is to be registered or not based on comparison of LBA and priority regarding the log stored in the memory with LBA and priority generated by the log generating part 22.
