<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a howling suppressing device which can automatically suppress howling even when a loop gain is large. Ž<P>SOLUTION: When a first howling is detected after activation, a band of a notch filter is set to a howling generation frequency and a mode is shifted to a mode 1 in which a gain is suppressed. When a terminal is closely set, howling is automatically suppressed in the mode 1. Then, when a second or a following howling is detected, the mode is shifted to a mode 2 in which a notch filter is only set without suppressing the gain.
