<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To separate a plurality of stacked sheets without depending on man-hours. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A paper separating device has an air supply nozzle 62 for blowing air from a mount table 30 side against a plurality of sheets mounted on the mount table 30. The plurality of the stacked sheets are mounted on the mount table 30 to abut on only one of a pair of hold-down members 10a and 10b. With respect to sheets not abutting on the hold-down members 10a and 10b in the plurality of the stacked sheets, the air supply nozzle 62 obliquely blows air from the mount table 30 side toward the hold-down member 10a on which a plurality of sheets of paper do not abut.
