<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus reducing waste consumption of toners by realizing selection of appropriate types of proper and determination of an appropriate toner amount by analyzing a printing image and allowing the density control suitable for individual engine states in combination with a consumable sensing function. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus has a density adjusting table changed corresponding to a plurality of types of printing paper, and performs the density adjustment in response to the forming condition of an image. The image forming apparatus comprises an analyzing means for analyzing a printing job, and operating means for changing the setting for the types of printing paper, a sensing means for sensing the condition of the image forming apparatus, and the density adjusting table adjusting means for making adjustment of the density adjusting table using the results of the analyzing means, the sensing means and the operating means.
